Daved, does Robben have a favorite acoustic amp? The sound he got on "The Authorized Bootleg" at Yoshi's was just perfect. Or maybe he was direct into the board? I'm running a Taylor 810 CE with the new ES pickup system, and running through my Two Rock clean just doesn't work well.

At the Yoshi's stand when the Authorized Bootleg was recorded he had a small Trace Elliot (Roscoe was endorsing them at the time too). It was one of those that had a curved front with four small speakers (6 1/2?). He had the same amp when he came back to the new Yoshi's a couple of years later with Anne and Roger Kelloway.

I've been using a Trace Elliot acoustic amp for the last few years and get really good results.

Mine's a 50W which I find can be a little underpowered in some situations (runs side by side with a 2x60 watt valve power amp and 2 half quad boxes), but otherwise a really nice amp. Better than some others I've looked at (Fender & Marshall acoustics) and has a nice sparkle to it. Also copes with piezos really well.

Would probably sound really good with a real acoustic guitar too - I use mine to amplify the piezo bridges on my electric guitars and also my Godin ACS Nylon.

PS - not sure specifically about the two rock, but acoustic guitars will never sound good through a *normal* electric guitar amp/speaker. Most 12" guitar speakers don't reproduce much above about 7-8khz so you don't get the top end and sparkle you need.

Cool

Chris
