First 2 shows went well tonight and the boys had a great deal of fun. Mike shared vocals with Robben and they all felt quite satisfied with the shows as some of the performers had never even met before today.

Some of the songs played were:
Hong Kong
Stan Key
Going Nowhere
Why You Lie
Hidden Treasure
Up From The Skies
Move On
Crazy House
That Road

Jimmy announced that the new Jing Chi will hopefully be released next month.

He also told me that Jing Chi means "Vital Energy"/"Life Force".

I still can't reveal the special guest on the new disc, but Jimmy says hopefully those legalities are almost resolved.

He is having all the shows recorded to DAT with the idea of hopefully coming up with enough quality recordings to put together a live disc.

WOW! Thanks for the update!

New CD...yes!

DAT recording..yes!

Mike and Robben together.....incredible! I have to hear this!

Please thank Jimmy for recording this!

Now the questions:

1> So is Robben playing the Les Paul all night? What pickups are in that LP? and is there a Pickup splitter switch on the LP.

2> Can you give us the details an the Landau guitars and rig?

Daved you have a killer job!

Hope you guys are having fun over there!

Thanks Daved!

"Why you Lie" is a great Landau song. I have only heard a small bit of Robert Cray's music, what I have heard is a little boring. I am sure we will hear another side to his playing with Jing chi.

I saw Robben at Catalinas a little over a year ago, it was scheduled to be a jing chi show but turned into a Blue line show. Wipe the tears right, it was probably the best out of 6 RF shows I have seen.

Any more updates will be appreciated.
Take Care
Rob

So I was right! Very Happy

Actually, I have to confess that I was privy to a little insider info on that one. I used to work at A&M (now Henson) where the CD was recorded, and I still have friends there. Sorry 'bout that!

Really looking forward to this new CD, and the live one coming up next!

Bill

Actually, Jim, Bill Morgan scooped you... LOL! But, you did do an excellent job of being first to firmly confirm it, so you win 2nd prize.... Honorable mention! Congrats, Jim!

I was suprised to see Bill nail it so quickly, so I figured he must have had 'inside info', but I could say nothing to confirm, so I just didn't deny... so he got it first and wins the grand prize... front row seats in Yokohama! Congratulations, Bill! Cya there! Bring your earplugs.... Wink Laughing

I, of course, have been obligated to keep the lid on tight. But Ultimately, I still have the best scoop.... photos from the recording session which will be posted in the TechTalk site during the first couple weeks of May, after I get home.

So, everyone goes home a winner!!!

Mike is using only a Sunburst Strat with whammy, thru a marshall with F/X rack and lotsa pedals. I'll give more detail after the startup dust settles.

Landau and Robben is like a match made in heaven. They're both bluesy but in a different way. Landau is one of the most expressionistic player around, he can milk a note and get all kinds of sustain and vibrato. His tone is always in your face, sweet Strat pup sounds (Fralins and Suhr?). Mike can attack a note like no other.
What can I say about Robben that hasn't been said? He has a total command of mixing bebop and blues. I would say that Landau is more from a Hendrix bag , and Robben is more like a bluesy Miles Davis, although both could cross into any territory.
Can't wait for a live release of these gigs. Please make it happen! (Jimmy).

I JUST WANT TO TALK TO YOU
I WON'T DO YOU NO HARM
I JUST WANT TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR DIFFERENT LIVES,
ON THIS HERE PEOPLE FARM
I HEARD SOME OF YOU GOT YOUR FAMILIES,
LIVING IN CAGES TALL AND COLD
AND SOME JUST STAY THERE AND DUST AWAY,
PAST THE AGE OF OLD

IS THIS TRUE?
PLEASE LET ME TALK TO YOU
I JUST WANT TO KNOW ABOUT,
THE ROOMS BEHIND YOUR MINDS
DO I SEE A VACUM THERE OR AM I GOING BLIND?
OR IS IT JUST REMANIS FROM VIBRATIONS AND ECHOES LONG AGO
THINGS LIKE LOVE THE WORLD AND LET YOUR FANCY FLOW

IS THIS TRUE?
PLEASE LET ME TALK TO YOU, LET ME TALK TO YOU
I HAVE LIVED HERE BEFORE THE DAYS OF ICE
AND OF COURSE THIS IS WHY I'M SO CONCERNED
AND I COME BACK TO FIND THE STARS MISPLACED
AND THE SMELL OF A WORLD THAT HAS BURNED
THE SMELL OF A WORLD THAT HAS BURNED

WELL MAYBE, MAYBE IT'S JUST A CHANGE OF CLIMATE
I CAN DIG IT I CAN DIG IT BABY
I JUST WANT TO SEE

SO WHERE DO I PURCHASE MY TICKET
I WOULD JUST LIKE TO HAVE A RINGSIDE SEAT
I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE NEW MOTHER EARTH
I WANT TO HEAR AND SEE EVERYTHING
I WANT TO HEAR AND SEE EVERYTHING
I WANT TO HEAR AND SEE EVERYTHING
YEAH
AW SHUCKS
IF MY DADDY COULD SEE ME NOW

Jimi was so freaking GREAT! Wink
