Hi Kirk, first of all thanks for the package you sent me, it arrived saturday(my 3rd prize for "Can You top Scott" contest, Hats off to Aeolian to have vote for me Very Happy ).
May be you can give me an advice :

A friend of mine owns a 1958 Les PAul Deluxe Reissued in 1980, tobacco sunburst, Mint condition, with mini humbuckers, great tone, this one has been played on an occasionnal basis.
Hard case.
He bought his baby brand new for 1600 euros.

How much you think he might sell it now ????

Thanks in advance . I've been on the les paul forum but it was way complicated for me.

Bluelobster. PS I told him about the fact one can't sell his main guitar even if he needs money. music rules and we are not singer.

Hi Blob -

Are you sure it's a Deluxe???

If he bought it new in 1980, and it is a Deluxe, then it's not a reissue, as Gibson made the Deluxe 1969-1985.

I have a '69 Deluxe that I bought for $225 in 1974. Cool

At any rate, I was always under the impression that the Deluxe isn't one of the more desirable/collectible of the Les Paul models.

I would think 1600EU/$2000 would be TOPS for a mint Deluxe (but someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

But here's a '73 for BIG $$$:

This seems way too high to me. Shocked

Anyway, if you can determine for certain which model your friend has, you can search the Internet for similar guitars for sale.

(Speaking of Les Pauls, I'm seeing Dicky Betts tonight! Very Happy )

Here's a great site for Gibson info:

Read this, and disregard everything I said earlier.

Here's what my LP expert told me.....

Quote:
Hi David...
WAY more than 10 years ago, when you couldn't give them away at $600.

Probably like $1600-1800 is what a retail store will ask for it...

Pull the mini humbuckers, plop in some soapbars and pretend you're Robben. Very Happy

Very Happy , thanks guys , 1st : you're right it's not a reissue , it's a regular deluxe from 1980 .8001006100, So tenth day of year 80 and may be from kalamazzo

I played her tonight , she is heavy but have a great tone.
In a restaurant with a V twin and backing tracks was really frustrating (i mean i lke to play LP in a ZZ top kind of mood ) anyway LP are great guitars.
Actually i will stick with my first feeling : making my friend wanting to keep this home. Neutral Neutral Neutral
edited a few minuts later ::::: Wowwwwwwwwwwww I want this 1973 one , one day she 'll be mine
Embarassed
