Pursuant to Bill Morgan's and David Henderson's recommendation, I picked up copies of Don Mock's "Guitar Secrets, Melodic Minor Revealed" and "Guitar Secrets, Symmetrical Scales, Diminished & Whole Tone Revealed," I must say that by far they are the best guitar instructional books I have ever seen. Don Mock's approach to the subjects is practical, concise, and illuminating. He succeeds at his goal of making the material as simple and as useful as possible so the reader can incorporate it into his or her music immediately. I would encourage anyone interested in making these scales a part of their arsenal to take a look at these books.

I just found the Harmonic Minor book in a local store last weekend. I now have all 3 and they are the most important books in my collection next to Chord Chemistry and the 3 new real books. The Harmonic minor book has some brief moments of Don improvising after some examples that is just SICK.

Hi all!!

Just ordered the books! Can't wait to get hold of them.

I also recommend David Mead's 'Chords and Scales for Guitarists'. It's a very concise and 'jargon free' tutorial book on chords and scales construction. As well as an introduction to the CAGED fretborad orientation system.
It's really AMAZING!! Very clearly illustrated so that even complete beginners will understand.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Razz
