I've been reading about the 50th anniversary of the Newport Jazz Festival. The history of this festival is interesting in that it provided a new format to present jazz to audiences in the thousands. Newport became the model for jazz (and ALL other music) festivals worldwide.
There was a story about the history of the festival and its founder, George Wein, written by the Associated Press in today's edition of my local newspaper. The same story most likely appears in your Sunday paper too.
Does anyone know if (& what years) Robben performed at the Newport Jazz Festival ? I read that the festivals are taped by Voice of America for broadcast, but I've never heard any of the recordings.
P.S. I wonder what George Wein thought of Woodstock _________________ Travelling by train of thought
