Finally had a chance to make a clean recording of the homebrew clone.

Just clean, no overdrive. The wife starts screaming everytime I crank it up a little. Current tube line up is Ei 12AX7's in Preamp, Overdrive and Phase Inverter sections. There is a JJ 12AT7 in the reverb circuit. Output tubes are Winded C 6L6GC's.

You may here a little "BZZZZ" in the background. I think that this is in the room. I did not notice this as I was playing. I will need to de-noise the room that I record in before trying for a a good overdrive sound. Loose items on every surface in this room.

So here is the clip, nothing spectacular. This was recorded using an MCA SP1 condensor mic (very cheap) and Electrovoice ND 457 (very old) into a Behringer DDX3216 digital mixer and recorded on a Mackie SDR2496 Recording. Conversion to MP3 was done in Samplitude. The guitar is a 2003 Les Paul R7 gold top. Just me noodling around on the guitar.

I will post additional clips and time and family permits.

For more amp information see...

Opinions Welcomed...

Gary

It reminds me of Chester Lester. You guys remember that record with Les Paul and Chet Atkins? Cool record!

Nice clean tones! Cool playing!

Now, I want hear that baby cranked up with a little grit! Also, want to hear the lead channel.

You should do another mix and add some slight effects - a little verb, delay and compression. Just a thought.....

Please keep posting more clips!

Thanks for the comments. I had originally added compression and extra reverb. But I thought it started to mask the amp. I will play with the mix again tonight. The lead track is a little dry.

Maybe the family will let me make a little or lot of noise as the case may be this weekend.

Yeah, I need one of those family permits too, so I can crank it up! Wink

Good stuff there, Gary...

Wonderful. Clear as a bell. You can hear that there is great dynamic response. Ya nailed it dude. Love to hear this thing in anger.

Thanks for the comments.

I am hoping to get "angry" with it this weekend. I am still looking for something inspirational to "say" with the amp and guitar. Something a little beyond my normal noodling.

My youngest son used the amp last night at the youth jam session. He was playing my 52' RI Tele (his Les Paul's strings were deader that a popcorn f&#t) through the amp and it sounded great. It was really nice to see him start using his pick attack to adjust his volume/solo dynamics, it allowed the notes bloom out a little more than usual.

Time to get "angry",

Gary

Very nice tone!

I agree with Johnny.... Tell the wife to run an errand or something. Then DO it.
