I was thinking how great it would have been if Scott had been able to film the performances for the live album, and release them on dvd (maybe next time!), and i started thinking about some of my favorite music dvd's:
1.Ozric Tentacles- "Live At The Pongmaster's Ball"
These guys are my favorite band, and this is an excellent performance of them doing their thing. If you've never heard them, imagine cool techno with psychedelic guitar all PLAYED by actual musicians.
2.BB King- "Live By Request"
This has Jeff Beck (my favorite guitar player) guesting on 3 tracks, and he is just killing! Being able to watch his hands close up is a true learning experince. Oh yeah, that BB guy is pretty good too!
3-Joe Satriani- "Live In San Francisco"
This is one of the best produced music dvd's i've seen, and Joe is really on during this performance.
4-Dokken- "Live In Japan '95"
A little hair music never hurt anyone!!!
And Lynch is ripping on this show.
5-Rory Gallagher- "Irish Tour 74"
While technically not the best thing you'll ever watch, any chance to see Rory play is worth it in my book.
6-Muddy Waters- "Messin' With The Blues"
While Muddy is great as always, the real treat here is Buddy Guy, who just tears it up from start to finish.
7-Stevie ray Vaughan-"Live At Montreux"
I don't think any explanation is necessary
Anyone have the Gary Moore live at Montreux dvd yet?
What else would you recommend?

I have and like the Ozric Tentacles, fun jam, do you think those dread locks are real?? Cool selection you have brought up, I have seen or own most of what you described. The Gary Moore is good, but I was disappointed with his playing. I am much more into a progressive fusion approach.
For non fusion, I like the Vai live one, and the G3 DVDs. I like the "Cross roads" festival, Roger Waters live 2001 is unbelievably good, great song after great song, played just right. "The Who" live 2002 is very good too, great songs played just right. Joni Mitchell's "Refuge of the roads" is very good, with Michael Landau and Vinnie C. I am a big "Primus" fan, they have two out right now that are worth every penny I paid for them.
Steve Morse/Dixie dregs is very good, and all the Deep Purple DVDs with Steve. I am sure I will think of about 3 or 4 more after I post this.
Steve Ray Vaugn - live in Mocambo
Dream Theater - Live In tokyo, Metropolise 2000 & Live In Budakhan
Steve Vai - Live in Austin
Chick Corea - Live in Madrid 86
Frank Gambale - Concert for Class
Mr. Big - Farewell Tour live in Japan
and a lot a lot more _________________ = lord of the strings =

Two recent additions to my collection worth mentioning are:
1-Gary Moore "Live At Montreux"
Gary's vibrato and pitch accuracy during bends are things every guitarist should strive for. This concert is from his "Still Got The Blues" era, and features material from around then. Albert Collins guests on 4 tracks.
There are also 3 bonus clips from Gary's 1997 appearance at Montreux, which lean in a slightly more rock direction. These 3 tracks have Gary Husband playing drums!!!!!
2-Aerosmith- "You Gotta Move"
There are plenty of classic tunes here mixed in with the MTV hits, and Perry and Whitford are playing their asses off. In fact, the whole band is playing as if their lives depended on it. This dvd is one of the best sounding music dvd's i own.
As an added bonus, i will say that i have never seen more hot girls gathered in one place than on this dvd. I really need to go see Aerosmith the next time they come around!!!!
