Hi Scott, two questions please:
Are you still suhr endorsee?
Do you know what happened, because is everybody leaving the company? Guthrie, Landau, Tom Quayle, Jose de Castro....
I'm still With Suhr. Different artists have different agendas when it comes to endorsements. I've never asked John for anything except quality instruments. Its just my opinion, but I seriously doubt if artists leaving Suhr has anything to do with the quality of the gear.
When I was with Ibanez, they gave me money for my name, they did expensive magazine ads for me, set up workshops, and in general promoted my career. Suhr is a small company and they're not about that, although at one point Suhr had an employee who's a huge Guthrie fan, and wanted to take his endorsement further than John was comfortable with. I'm happy to have great gear, and I don't care about anything else, but it's possible that other artists expect more than that.
I've talked to John since my last post and he'd like me to add that not all the guys you mentioned are actual Suhr endorsers like I am. Mike still uses the Badger and Suhr pickups, and has never been exclusive to any company. Just because you hear someone is at Suhr, it doesn't mean they're a full endorser and getting free gear either. Also, I record with my Les Paul sometimes, and I don't use Suhr pedals - an endorsement doesn't mean you have to use everything the company makes.
