Hi Scott,

Have you had a chance to try either of these amps yet? Curious to know your thoughts, since you've talked about using the Hot Rod Deluxe in the past.

I haven't heard either one but I'm sure they're both great amps. Too bad it's unlikely that you'd find a store which carried them both or you'd be able to compare them side by side.

In a way, I already own both. I have a Suhr modded Fender amp, which is actually the beginning stage of the Bella. It's an amazing amp and I used it a lot on the new record. I also have a HR Deluxe, which I'm sure I'd like more with Mike's improvements.

Mike is right when he talks about one channel amps sounding the best - the crunch and lead channels on the Deluxe/DeVille are completely useless. The clean channel with pedals is the only way to go on those amps, so tossing all that unnecessary circuitry from the other channels has to improve the sound of the amp.
