I enjoy the Blues Trio and then VTT, in that order.
Best he can do is be true to what he is into at the moment, and then we get the best music.
I wonder how they all pan out financially, as that is a factor for a small artist? Taking the Blues Trio to Europe seems to have been worthwhile. Any market for TTech to play on the back of a record, or perhaps the Blues is moulding the future Henderson product? |

[quote="Tom"]I would like to hear/see a solo CD & fULL production DVD with:
SCOTT HENDERSON
DENNIS CHAMBERS
MARCUS MILLER
(You've got to be kidding! If it's fusion it's got to be with Willis. Scott
and Gary are musical soul mates.)
TOM COSTER
(Hmmm...I'd still rather hear Kinsey. How bout Herbie!)
JOSHUA REDMAN
(I agree with the Garrett sugestions...Kenny would eat Scott's TT
tunes up. And maybe Branford on tenor.)
Actually, if i had it my way his next album would be TT playing their own new compositions based on standard changes, reharmonized and arranged by Scott and Gary.
Now back to reality. How bout a TT album, half composed (pre thick style) and the other half improvised (ie thick and rocket science).

Just trying to get something different going for Scott, It's my Fantasy!
You are right on with a CD of half composed and half improvised, I like Scott and Gary's writing skills. |

Sorry if I caused you some personal offense Lee. I was just sharing my thoughts and opinions on his most recent way of playing. Scott's obiviously been influenced by Landau in a positive way...I just prefer Scott sounding like himself and not showing too much of any one influence. And I think he's been there, done that with the blues stuff too.
John R.
I reallllyyy would like to have a triology of VTT CDs....and honestly, if I had a chance to see Scott live...I wouldn't care if it was blues or whatever....it's SCott!! _________________ http://www.johnredden.com |

It's not personally offensive, but this Forum has literally just started, and you come in with a statement that Scott should stop sounding like Landau and Beck. That is a pretty destructive statement to level at a guy who has dedicated his life to sounding like himself.
Would you say that to him at a gig? Nothing different in saying it here.
He will either be offended, or more likely realise that you are not listening too closely. If you hear an influence fine, but to say a whole body of work sounds like other players is silly. WTTB is magnificent in it's originality and sounds like nothing else I have ever heard. We are here to discuss all things, but you were straight out of the blocks with heavy handed criticism. It was not very tactful. |

MARCUS MILLER (Or Anthony Jackson!!!)
SCOTT KINSEY (sorry Tom, but Coster sounds like A$$ to me.)
JOSHUA REDMAN (There is a story that went around about how Redman dissed Hendy and Willis. If true, I would imagine that Redman is not high on Hendy's list) Sub here is Brecker or Garrett.

Hi - first time poster here - huge Henderson/Tribal Tech fan...
With regard to the next CD he records, I think we should restrict it so that there are no Tribal Tech guys...
I could see VTT with the addition of a keyboard player (Coster is a great player - have you seen him live with Vital Information?!?!? He'd just have to leave his accordian home...) Others to consider: Patrice Rushen (don't laugh - awesome with CAB on DVD), Steve Weingardt, Allan Pasqua, Brian Auger, and last but cerntainly not least, Adam Holzman!!!
If we eliminate VTT from the equation:
Henderson - guitar
Chambers - drums
Marcus - Bass
Holzman - Keyboards
If a sax player is a must, Kenny Garrett.

Seen Coster....... Not my cup of tea. His time feel and harmonic stuff doesn't seem to fit in with Scott's feel and harmonic sense.
Throw Herbie Hancock into the mix..... Now that would smoke!!!

Absolutely.
BTW, as long as we're indulging in fantasy lineups here, I'd like to hear Scott w/ either David Garfield or Greg Mathieson on keys. As bluesy as Greg gets, he would kick some serious butt w/ Scott's trio, I would bet.
As for rhythm sections, how about either Jimmy Johnson or John Pena on bass, and either Simon Phillips or Greg Bissonette on kit?
Just a few of the many possibilities.

Another trio record. I must confess to some bias, as I personally thought fusion music got stale after the first Mahavishnu album. But having said that, this band, especially in the last year or so, represents a really significant step forward in electric guitar music -- more than I've heard maybe anywhere else. Some of it's bluesy, yeah, but overall it sounds like Stravinsky collaborating with Jimmy Page with Charlie Parker sitting in playing a Strat LOUD. Also the trio format forces Mr. Henderson to treat us to some seriously gorgeous chord voicings. Gosh, it's great stuff. A DVD would be to die for. I've heard Scott is pretty obsessed with the tone thing and therefore leery about live recordings, but most of us out here really can't tell the difference between, say, an original Tube Screamer and an Analog Man modded TS. It's the music, man, the notes. So.. please, lay it on us, and don't worry about it being perfect. I've seen the band at La Ve Lee probably 20 or so times, and every time it's friggin' awesome beyond belief. (Covington and Humphrey are both fantastic as well. so nice to hear a bass player with monster chops who's content to anchor it down rather than show off) |

A Hendrix tribute togheter with Buddy Miles and Billy Cox has to be the biggest dream, but that won´t happen....
So I go for the Blues trio (with Thelma Houston and Wade Durham of course).
Well to the bone is probably one of the best guitar album ever made.
Great tunes, great production, and of course the best guitar solos and guitar tone in modern time.... |

I'd really like to hear a live trio album, or a TT album where they do the spontaneous jamming thing, and then DON"T do any overdubs.
