Really enjoying the podcast although I've only finished the first one. Was wondering how you got involved. How was Troy MacCubbin as a student? Any other thoughts about it? |

Bruce and I are good friends and I love his playing - we also seem to be on the same page about tastes in music, music education, etc, so when he and Troy approached me about doing a podcast I knew it would be fun. They're getting nuttier as we go along... I hope people find them funny, but I also hope there's some useful information there for music students.
Troy had to remind me that he was one of my students - I have too many to remember, unless they're the ones who come into my room every day, and I think there have only been about five of those... |

Hey Scott, the podcast was funny, entertaining and passed on some very good information, so mission 100% fulfilled! I liked it. It had a very nice low key vibe to it that successfully came over the transom. Bruce says some funny-ass things.
What types of jokes can you tell John McLaughlin? |

Loving the podcast ! Up to episode 4 and laughing my ass off.
It's really great to hear two of my favorite players just shoot the shit.
So hard to believe such a thing exists, but I'm grateful to all involved ! |

Thanks, glad you're enjoying it! I probably say some extremely stupid shit, but thank goodness you don't have to be smart to do what I do for a living. |

Have you guys thought about having guests on, or doing blindfold tests?
You mentioned Phil DeGruy, seems someone like him would be an awesome guest not just for his playing but his great sense of humor as well.
Actually the riffing you and Bruce play in between discussion kind of reminds me of some of the tunes on Phil's record where he plays with all those other guitarists.
Any rate, the show is a fun listen. Love the "G-W" hand sign logo! |

Yes! Guests wood be very cool, Scott. This type of 'fusion' style and the jazz world, is currently a huge underground market today of musicians and fans - on the web/internationally.
In the area you're in (LA) has many of those cats that would be great to get the info and hear your interactions with them. Here's a few suggestions for guests - all in your area that we would love to hear as guests:
Hadrien Feraud, Frank Gambale, Guthrie G, Janek Grizwalda, Tony Royster, Jr., Bonamassa, Carl Verheyen, Josh Smith, Kirk Fletcher, Kenny G. (haa j/k), etc.
Podcast is a hit! Thanks Scott. |

Yes, we'll definitely have some guests - hoping for Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, but we may have to settle for Kenny G. |

Been a reader here since about '07 but never created a profile.
I attended GIT in 93-94 and queued up quite a number of times for your open counseling - never had the guts to go through with it though, because you are one of the few guitarists I ever idolised after getting to a certain level. Not a year goes by where I don't regret folding and chickening out of getting ripped on by one of my heroes.
I've listened to all five podcasts in a row - and rather enjoyed it. Excellent listen really and am most certainly looking forward to the next bits.
Thanks for the music during the years and for the abundant amount of info you've shared on this forum.
Cheers! _________________ I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. |

Thanks very much and I'm glad you like the podcast! If you're ever in LA, you're welcome to come to MI as a guest and play a tune with me. I don't give lessons at home, only on Skype, but I always offer people who want a lesson to come to my open counseling as a guest and tour the school if they want. |
