Hey Scott

I want to experiment with a tube screamer. I know you used to use them.

Do you like a ts9 or an 808 better?

What is your favorite one? Last I saw you liked the analogman silver mod.

Thanks Scott

The best one in my opinion is the Maxon OD-9. It sounds better out of the box than any Tube Screamer I've ever heard, modded or not. That being said, I'm not a fan. It's horrible sounding in a Marshall - midrange overload! It sounds good in a Fender for the SRV tone - nice on the neck and middle pickups, which Stevie mostly used, but pretty spiky on the bridge pickup, which is why I don't use it.

I've used it in the past because I couldn't find a boost pedal which didn't sound woofy when I turned my tone knobs down. For most of the tunes on Well To The Bone, I used a Tube Screamer running into a Voodoo 1 to smooth out the midrange and add bass - the Tube Screamer by itself is a real bass killer. When the RC Booster came along, I didn't need two pedals anymore and the tone is much better.

Thanks Scott

I am loving the RC boost v2 and I boost the bass a little on it. I think a tube screamer before the RC boost will sound good because the RC boost will add the missing bass.
I'll try the od9.
