The size of the cabinet and speaker type makes a huge difference in the tone. Even if the 4x12 sound isn't your favorite, it's great to have a lot of different sounds to choose from. IR's are convenient because now they sound like the real thing and you can choose between cabinet types while cranking your amp at home without visits from the police. Another cool thing about IR's is that you can even change them after you've recorded, so you don't have to make a final decision about the tone of a guitar part until the mix. |

Scott, thx again for the great advice about the Suhr RL. I received it day before yesterday and have been playing powerrock riffs since then. The Suhr really makes the difference, i love it!
Happy new year! |

I have had the reactive load for a few months with wall of sound. Not only is it great for recording but also for working on live tone. I can set up my normal rig, run it into a similar speaker cab, and really hear it under a microscope. Saves money on pedal purchases because you can really hear them before using them live. |

So i found out! I already changed a few things on my pedalboard and bought a new amp too. Playing through the Suhr i noticed i really want to go straight into the front end of my amp, no pedals. So i bought the same amp i've been using for years, but with a second channel. I even have the wah (H9) in the fx loop now...
Wow, just one cable into the amp feels so good again! |
