Hi Scott,

This morning I heard that Johnny Hallayday died. Long story short, he was considered as our french Elvis.
He's been living for years in LA, and I know they talk about him there on TV news.

I was wondering if you ever met him or heard about him. Since Abe Laboriel Junior did play with him, maybe you heard stories about him (I don't know if you personnally know Abe Laboriel Jr, but I know you have mutual friends).
If your french rythm section asks for a day off today, you'll know it's a mourning day, because St Johnny's gone.

I didn't like most of his music (he didn't write or compose, he barely strummed the guitar, but I have to admit that he had an incredible voice, and he kept it almost until the very end).

Kevin

Sorry to hear that Kevin. I've never heard of him - I know Abe but haven't talked to him in a long time. I'm sure the guys know who he is - I'll see them in January when they come to NAMM.

I didn't really expect you to know him. Here in France he was part of our heritage, just like the Concorde or the Eifel tower. But I know he wasn't know in other countries.
I juste heard that he was the one who introduced Jimi Hendrix to the french audience, and he had Jimmy Page playing on one of his earliest albums (Jimmy played for many french artists before Led Zeppelin). So even if he wasn't my cup f tea, he deserved some repect, just for that.
