A lot of guys in the metal genre over the last 30 years.
Many of them are faster and can play 32nd notes on 4 octave arpeggios.
I haven't yet heard one of them have a tone as good as Yngwie's and musicality.
Scott, i have been listening to Yngwie for 20 years now.
I can't figure out how he gets his notes to pop out like that.
I suspect it's related to his scalloped neck.
Off topic.
Since Yngwie is living in Florida, do you think one day the story starting with "A man from Florida" will be about him. _________________ If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.

It's his technique. He gives space to each note and gets the most possible out of it. His ear is insanely good, as well. He's one of those guys who I suspect is bending the notes just a bit to get them more in tune. A scalloped neck would help with this as he can bend down, I think. Another player who is similar to YJM in getting notes to pop is Bonamassa, and I suspect for the same reasons. |

One of the things I think sets him apart from most technical shredders is that he plays over the time. His phrases are not metronomicaly locked to the grid. This gives it a much more expressive sound. |

Yngwie seems to have that insane ability of perfect pitch when bending notes. A LOT of guys can bend notes but Yngwie seems to have that ability to hit the note dead on. Perfectly in tune and with a scalloped neck my guess is that’s NOT an easy thing to do.

He now uses a 0.08 - 0.046 signature strings set. Explains why here:

I think it hels a lot on his bending, which is wonderful, for sure. |
