In recent Guitar Player mag there was a review about high grade power cord. The reviewer claimed there was an audible improvement to tone with a better amp power cord. Any comment on this? Thanks.

I think those guys are paid to say good things, since I never see bad reviews in those magazines.

Cable changes can make a huge difference in tone, including AC power cables. 18 gauge is typical for an AC cable, but Suhr uses 16 gauge, which is thicker. That can work if you play mostly clean, or mildly distorted like SRV. Basically, a thicker AC cable just delivers more current to the transformer, resulting in more bass and low mids. I don't like it, because I play through a 4x12 and have more bass than I need. In my case, it chokes the mid frequencies and makes the tone more scooped. Some manufacturers are selling 14 gauge, which is even worse - it just makes the amp into a bass machine. I bought a few of them and threw them in the trash as soon as I heard them.
