It's not fair to compare Kerry cabs to others - he used much lighter wood, which just like a guitar, resonates better. He was also meticulous about the build - they're just perfectly made.
Suhr doesn't make their own cabs - most amp manufactures in LA get them from a company in Victorville. I wouldn't say they're badly made, but I've heard them directly compared with Kerry cabs, using the same exact speakers - it's not a contest.
I don't use delay pedals - delay shouldn't go into the preamp if there's a lot of gain, because everything gets muddy. It works OK for mild distortion, like Jimmy Page or Tommy Bolin playing through an Echoplex into the amp, but for higher gain tones, it's best if the delay is in the FX loop, or better yet, in a wet amp.
The album is going very slowly, mostly because of spending countless hours trying to find the right tones for the parts. I haven't changed my gear except for buying some new pedals.
I haven't read any Terry Pratchett books - hard to find time to do just about anything these days. No new shows either - my daughter is home from college and we watched Emily the Criminal and Shang-Chi. Strange combination...
