Hi Scott,

The other day I was looking at the analytics reports on my YouTube performance videos, and noticed that the majority of my views come from Europe and Japan, with the US (my current residence) coming in at a distant 5th place. Consequently, I've started developing this notion in my head that I might do better, at least professionally, in a different country.

Have you ever considered living in a different country, and if so, which one?

Thanks!

David

I haven't, but that's mainly because I have a great gig teaching at MI. If it wasn't for that, I'd consider it. Gary Willis, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Billy Cobham, and many other musicians who used to live in the US have moved to Europe. Maybe 5% of my shows (at the most) are in the US, simply because the gigs here don't pay enough.

That being said, I can play in town whenever I want, and I have an agent who books me internationally, so it doesn't really matter where I live on a professional level. If you're just starting out, then I'd have to agree that you might work more and be able to tour in Europe easier if you lived there. The international flights from the US make it impossible to go over there for only a few gigs.

I would be the most concerned about whether they show The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones over there. If they don't, forget about it.
