I'm curious about your opinon on Bireli Lagrene on one hand and the current re-emergence of "gypsy jazz" on the other. Is that a kind of music that you're interested in?
Bireli is a great player, probably the best in his style. That being said, "gypsy jazz" isn't something I listen to much. Bireli is far more than a gypsy jazz player - he can play any kind of modern jazz standard and in general is much more modern sounding than a lot of those guys who are stuck in harmonic minor and super traditional chord progressions.
