Hi Scott,
I heard you say last week that when you play with distorsion, it never sounds the same, even if you play exactly the same thing (which I agree with).
I would like to know if you already decided not to use some gear because you could not "control" it enough, though you liked the sound of it. Since I talk about this, I'm thinking about the gear you use for the last part of "festival of ghosts" (you know, the one that sounds like a weak weld or a bad cable ). I really love the sound you get with it, but I wonder how reproducible it is. Did you have to pratice a lot to domesticate it?

I don't avoid gear because it's not controllable - even the Fuzz Factory which I used on Festival Of Ghosts is somewhat controllable, because I set it exactly the same way every time I use it. That being said, it's unpredictable because the sounds it makes depend on where the guitar volume is set. At 10, it sounds the same, but as the guitar volume is lowered, you never know what could happen.... though it's usually something cool sounding.
