Hey Scott,
We seem to love a lot of the same music from Weather Report and Wayne Shorter to Deep Purple and Jeff Beck. So I was wondering if you ever listened to Gary Moore's playing in his 70's/'80's rock period? I always loved the way he would build a solo like this:
For me he was one of the greats, yes perhaps some of the songs haven't aged that well, but as a guitarist he always played with such emotion and energy.
I was lucky enough to see him play in a small seaside town in the U.K. with Albert King and Albert Collins. He always played like it was his last gig on earth which was a big inspiration.
Thanks and hope to see you play around L.A. again soon.
Yes, the tune is dated for sure, but he was a very melodic player. This video isn't my favorite style of music he played - I have some of his more bluesy records and I think that's where he really shined. What a long solo he got in this video - not typical of that kind of music, right? I guess if you're gonna take a solo that long on those chords, you better do a good job of building it, which he did.

Thanks Scott.
And yes, it would be hard to get away with a guitar solo that long nowadays on a pop/rock song! _________________ TrueFire Instructor
