At some point, I seem to require my more advanced students to spend some time listening/transcribing ideas from this tune (in particular the Bb blues solo section). I love your playing on that track even more than I did close to 30 years ago when I first heard it. To me, it's like the "Hotel California" of fusion solos - every note is perfect.
Did this tune ever make it past the Players record? Was it ever performed in TT? I'd love to hear how this tune would translate in your trio format.
Any interesting stories about how this tune came to be (especially the unison gtr/bass head)?
Sorry, it's been too long since I wrote the tune for me to remember any details about it. Most of the time I'm composing by ear and not even aware of what's going on from a theory standpoint - it's only later when I write the charts that I get a clearer understanding of what I've written. I think most modern composers would say the same.
