Hey Scott, tommy here. I helped pack up your amps in Chicago at Reggie’s on Saturday night. Great show btw! Anyways...
Are you still using roasted necks on all of your suhr guitars?? I’ve had mixed experiences. Do you try a bunch to find the right one? I seen you have three different ones you use in different situations in your masterclass videos. All roasted?
All my guitars have roasted necks - I agree with Suhr's opinion that it makes the neck more stable and also produces a deeper tone. That being said, all my guitars sound different because wood is inconsistent - I've experimented by switching necks and bodies on different guitars and it always changes the tone.
The weight and type of the wood are only scientific things I've heard of to predict what a piece of wood will sound like, but I have guitars with the same wood (alder body, maple/rosewood neck) which weigh within an ounce or two of each other and still sound different.
