Hi Scott, on the Well to the Bone solo (which rips btw) there's a stereo effect that sounds like a short delay between the Left & Right speakers. Could you let us know what you used for that and what the settings are like? Thanks! |

One side is dry, and the other side has about a 20ms delay, 100% wet. Easy to do in a DAW - just copy the original track to another track, nudge one track back 20ms, and then pan them L & R. It's a cool effect but a bit annoying because it can sound like there's nothing in the middle.
Another way to do it (the Holdsworth way) is to put the original track in the middle, copy it twice to L & R tracks, nudge the L track back 20-30ms and the R track back about 40-50ms. Then bring the L & R track up in the mix until it sounds stereo. This is what I did on the song Blue Heron Boulevard on the People Mover album. It helps when there's just one guitar and not much layering going on. |

Thanks Scott! It's simpler than I thought, so both sides are off the same source. I've been using a PCM42 plugin to do somewhat the same thing, only one side is slightly modulated for some width.
I'll try the Holdsworth thing in Echoboy, it sounds really interesting. Do you use Studio Tape or are any of the other delay types to your liking? |

I use Studio Tape the most, but I also like EchoPlex, Space Echo and Tel Ray, depending on how weird I want the echo to sound. EchoBoy is amazing! |

Thanks Scott, it certainly is. There's not a bad plugin in the Soundtoys bundle! |
