|
|
For the first time, esteemed New York City guitarist Ben Monder will bring his trio to California for a series of concerts and workshops this September. Monder is one of the most distinguished and cutting edge guitarists today creating mind bending harmonic passages never heard before on six strings.
Audio clips and info are available at http://www.BenMonder.com
He improvises fluid melodic lines on par with the most skilled woodwind player’s melodies. His compositions are mesmerizing, introspective, and harmonically adventurous.
“Ben Monder has played nearly unsurpassable jazz guitar with any number of actual jazz groups. But what he plays with his own group comes from another planet.”
- Ben Ratliff, NY Times
Monder has worked extensively as a sideman appearing on over 90 CDs, which include Maria Schneider Orchestra, Paul Motian’s Electric Bebop Band, Lee Konitz’s New Nonet, and Marc Johnson.
Monder has four discs released as a leader: Oceana (Sunnyside, 2005), Excavation (Sunnyside, re-release 2006), Dust (Sunnyside, re-release 2006), and Flux (Songlines, 1995). A forthcoming release with vocalist Theo Bleckmann is due out in early 2007 on the Songlines label. Ben will play solo and ensemble compositions off of his latest
release, Oceana (Sunnyside, 2005), Dust (Arabesque, 1997), and others. Ben Monder is available for radio and press interviews and recommended tracks for airplay Dust, The Third Eyebrow, and In Memoriam (Dust).
