First,I second what kirk said. Then, I pick Well To The bone as my fave SH blues CD.I love 'em all but WTTB has great overall production and I think that's why it has a little advantage over the first two IMO.

Wow, a place dedicated to Scott. I am a massive fan, but if we start discussing his taste in breakfast cerial I will run for the hills.
I am a fan of the Blues discs more than the TTech music. I have all the TTech discs (yes, I bought them - I am not a downloader, which is the most polite term I have for that). I may not buy any more though, as Scott has shown his abilitites on these blues (and VTT discs) that make me just want to hear more in that vein.
The recorded sounds got significantly better on each of the Blues albums, but Tore Down House was on my playlist for a couple of years as I marvelled at the phrasing and tone. Then he gave us a segue of him without backing - at the end of the title track. I took that as a tremendous gift, and it helped me work out the nuances of my own tone - it educated my ears. If that 30s was on vinyl the groove would be so deeply worn by now that the stylus would have worn through to the turntable. |

Tore down house my fav of these.
" Too bad your mama, wasn't on the pill" how cool a lyric is that!!
Scott's playing awesome as usual. Though my fav SH album is vital tech tones. |

Gotta go with "Well to the Bone."
The tones Scott gets on this one are just killing!
You can tell he's been hanging out with Landau.

I didn't care for Well to the bone so much because (I thought) he sounded too much like Landau....I think "Tore down house" has him at his most original in the blues style...

I think that "Tore Down House" is the best one from a songwriting point of view. The title cut and the hilarious "I Hate You" are the stuff of legends. Seen from a guitar playing and production point of view I think "Well to the Bone" is the best one. It's really much more diverse and adventurous, maybe due to Landau inspiration, which some of you mentioned.
Although I've been aware of Scott for years and even owning a Tribal Tech album it was first with "WTTB" that I got hooked on Scott and I've been working my way backwards through his catalog.
I agree that a live album would be great and a DVD would be even greater! In addition I have a feeling that the next regular studio album will knock us all out.
best regards

I agree with Marius about Tore Down House. Definitely the best songs, in my opinion. The playing is phenominal on all the albums, but I think the songs hooked me most on Tore Down House.
I dig the Tribal Tech stuff too, but I think I like the blues stuff the best. That said, one of my favorite instrumentals of all time is TT's "Hole in the Head". _________________ www.opalcandy.com |

I would be interested to hear just what you heard that reminded you of Landau. I am a Landau admirer, and the only influence I see that Scott worked through was w.r.t. some of his set-up for the actual sounds, not in any of the playing style, not even a single lick.
Landau very much shoots from the hip in a blues genre (ie Burning Water) and that could be the aim of another player, not to rip off his style. Landau is very influenced by Jimi in that regard. I don't hear any Jimi in Scott's style. Scott is easily identifiable if you listen to just a snippet, and that tells me he has a style all of his own. |

I have to agree with Lee here.
Two totally different guitar styles. |

I will have to listen to Well to the Bone again....As I said if another thread, I think Landau for sure has had a very positive influence on Scott....I do remember just getting Tales from the Buldge and then Well to the Bone and thinking I heard the influence of Landau there. Maybe it was just in the production, because I know Mike did produce it. Don't get me wrong...I am a HUGE Landau fan. I can thank Scott Lerner for that.... and for Krantz, Brecker, Berg, Luc, Lagrene, Kriesberg, Forman, et al....ahehehehe
Anyways, I'm not trying to start a fight...just stating my thoughts on an open forum. It's just funny to me to think that YES our influences do have influences of their own...and are just as impressionable as we are in listening to them......

Scott has certainly acquired a huge amount of Landau influence. Ask him yourself. I have.
