Hey Scott,
Heard on a recent GW you mentioned Suhr is going to produce a new combo for you, and production line, to replace your fender hot rod. Was hoping you could talk a bit about what's in store...why it will be better than the fender? Was also curious why you wouldn't just use a Bella for this purpose?
Thanks! |

I shouldn't have said for production - as of now it's a custom amp he's making for me. Whether it ends up as something he decides to produce for the public is anyone's guess at this point - it's not even started yet. It won't be a combo, but a 40 watt head and 1x12 cabinet.
The Bella is a great amp but it doesn't have a master volume in the traditional sense. When you turn the volume down, you loose gain. For live, I need to be able to get any degree of gain at any volume, so I only use the Bella for recording.
The Hot Rod Deluxe isn't a great sounding amp, especially with the stock speaker. I put a 65 in mine and I still don't like it much - I just use it because I don't have anything else that size. I mainly use it as the wet amp in my SH-100/ 4x12 setup. |

When you mentioned the project a while ago i went to John's own forum to ask him about it. He wasn't amused with the attention. |

I don't think he was happy that I mentioned it at all - I just assumed that he'd make it available for the public. Honestly I don't like wasting John's time with custom work if he doesn't plan to release it commercially, like he did with my SH-100. My hope was that he'd think a lower watt version of the SH-100 is something people would want. Personally I think there's a huge gap in the market for this amp - 40/20 watts, master volume, FX loop, lightweight, matching 1x12 cabinet - what's not to like? |

I too think it would be a winner, but it's up to the maestro. |

Hi Scott,
Have you take a look at the Victory Sheriff 44?

I think about buying it, but I think I will have the money only when your "SH50" will be ready... so I have some time to take my decision. |

I like Victory amps and this one looks really cool. Hopefully John will make the new amp for me soon and I can talk him into making it available to the public. |
