Hey Scott
Have you ever played a jtm 45? It's the Marshall before the plexi I think.
I am borrowing a clone of one with kt66 tubes and it has an amazing clean tone. Like a big fender with less high end. I haven't tried it at a gig but on its own it sounds great. Even though it's only 45 watts it wouldn't make a good dirty amp because mine doesn't have a master volume. I'll bet the dirty sound is great too.
Just wondering what you think of these.
I've played through them, but never at a gig. I think it's a great amp, but without an FX loop and master volume, it wouldn't work on my gigs - I'd love to have one for the studio, but I'm sure I couldn't afford it.
This one is a Mojave Plexi 45. It gets really good reviews but it isn't very well known.
It doesn't have an effects loop. Also it has something called power scaling which sucks. It is not like a regular master volume. They make there own 2x12 cab which is semi open back.
I have a few nice fender combos and I'm probably going to trade one of them for the Mojave. The high end is so soft. Sometimes on fenders, as you know, the high end gets too piercing.
