I don't give private lessons, but it was a nice compliment. |

Watching this video, I remember the topic about that gig youy did with Vai and Satriani.
You said it was not that much of an excitement for you, and I asked you if you thougth that those big names noticed how badass you were.
I think we have the answer to that question now. |

yeah!
i also heard vai say in een interview that he liked brett garsed a lot.
the beter (for me at least) the players are, usually are not very well known for the masses..but i think it's understandable.
i think greg koch jokingly said once: you want a date to end quickly, put on some holdsworth! |

I think it was indeed a nice compliment given that the host and most of that audience would have no clue about jazz or fusion. I hope some of them decide to look you up.
Personal preferences aside, Vai has a lot of respect for jazz and fusion greats; he is a big fan of Mclaughlin and is on record as saying Holdsworth is his number one guy just recently. He guested on a Mike Stern album and is on Jeff Berlin's upcoming album as well.
I'm glad to see him discuss you like this because I do think with some time at least some of the listeners could develop a taste for what you do. Van Halen's endorsement of Holdsworth back in the day comes to mind. |

Yes, Van Halen talking about Holdsworth was huge.
It got me into Holdsworth along with thousands of others. Then from there I got into Scott Henderson and then Coltrane and Miles because Scott and Allan talked about those older players. |

I got into Scott Henderson because I heard he got booted from Chick's band for fornicating.. I thought anyone who pisses that cornball off has got to be good. |

It was a recognition of sorts.
He was arrogant enough to say that it wouldn't be a "lesson".
Compared to Scott, Steve cannot improvise his way out of C major.
It will be a legit lesson, if it happens.
I am suspecting that he is not interested in improvising, because he's never done it.
Judging by his style, i think he is interested in the tone Scott used on the rocket science album. _________________ If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.
