Hi Scott,

I use delays in the effects loop of my amp. I don't use a volume pedal,
but want to add one primarily for the purpose of creating ambient washes and drones (Fripp-ish) When I back off the volume at the input, I want the delay 'wash' to remain audible.

My question is, with the volume pedal in the effects loop (i.e. send - volume - Delay-return) would manipulating the volume allow for this, or would heal position effectively mute the amp output altogether?

Also, if using a pedal in the effects loop will work for my needs,
would your recommend a low or high impedance pedal, or is it
purely based on pickup type ?

Thanks in advance.

The only way to do that is to use a mixer in FX loop. Go out of your FX send to the volume pedal (must be low impedance), then into the input of the mixer, then from the output of the mixer to the FX return. Put your reverb/delay into the send and return of the mixer and set your effect to 100% wet. I did it that way for years and used the Suhr mixer - it's not much bigger than a pedal.

I just posted a reply then deleted as I think I read the question wrong -
do you want to play along with the delay repeats but not have those notes fed into the delay i.e. create a pad to play over?
