Hey Scott,

I’m about to put together a strat and the body is routed for a 6-screw bridge. Initially I wanted to go with a Gotoh bridge but I saw your video from MI where you mentioned how Suhr makes the screwholes bigger in order for the bridge to stay in tune better. I’d like to do that mod on my guitar but I’m not sure whether I can ask my tech to make the holes bigger without having to look for a different bridge. Can I do this modification to my guitar and keep the Gotoh, or should I look elsewhere on the bridge market? Appreciate your thoughts on the subject. -Nick

You're question isn't really clear to me - it sounds like you're thinking that the holes in the guitar get drilled bigger, but I'm sure you know I mean that the holes in the bridge plate get drilled bigger. That would be the same on either a Fender six-screw bridge or a Gohto six-screw bridge. They both have the same problem - the 6 holes in the bridge plate are too small. Gohto just copied the Fender bridge, so in this particular issue, they're just as stupid as Fender for not knowing that the holes are too small to allow the bridge to stay in tune.

Please check out what I've written about this mod - you'll find it in the post "Strings which stay in tune using the whammy bar".
