Hi Scott,

This morning on the radio I heard "Down to the nightclub", by Tower Power.
I'm not a TP connoisseur, and I'd never heard that song before.

I remember you said many times how "got faith'n phat" was inspired by "in time", which we all recognize if we listen to both tunes.
But I would add that there is also a lot of "Down to the nightclub". And not only because it's the same band and the two TP songs sound the same. I heard things you picked in "DTTN" that I don't hear in "in time".
Do you agree?
Can we say then that "got faith'n phat" is a perfect Tower Power best of?

I hope you won't take it as criticism, because it's not. Your inspiration for that tune is very obvious and you never tried to hide it, plus you did a hell of a good job with it.

Kevin

That tune wasn't directly inspired from any TOP music, but I've been such a big fan of theirs for so long that their influence will be heard in any funk music I write. I've seen them live many times and it's always mind-blowing. This is a great medley:

Sounds like Chris Tucker on vocals

There's a tune on Thick, I think it's the second one, Willis bass line resembles oakland stroke (album version, not this video version), I asked him about it and he said it was not purposely influenced by that but now that I mentioned it he heard the connection.. and like oakland stroke he couldn't find one on that tune either lol.. anyhow, another TT->TOP story
