Cover version - Don't let me be misunderstood.
Other (so many, but today...) Hey brother, Misdirected blues...
Crowd pleaser at gigs... Start it up
I'm at work and don't have my CD collection to-hand to refer to, but this is probably a good thing or I would have to write a much longer list. |

Hi,
Robben will bring his guitar and himself. It will be a relaxed affair with him doing some playing, talking and answering questions. In the States some of the clinics are all day, so people might be able to bring their guitars. However we have limited time on this one so just bring yourself. (unless like some you want him to sign your guitar)
All the best....... |

Revelation is such a killer tune!
I really wish Robben would put that one back in the live rotation. He absolutely lights that tune up!
The last time Robben played here in Boulder - Supernatural had just been released. I was in the fist row, surprise surprise. Anyway I was shouting out Revelation and kind of got the rolled eyes look from Robben....He was clearly more excited about playing his newer stuff. Right after I shouted out my request, somebody else shouted out Supernatural which brought a nice smile to Robben's face...and he said something like ....now that's one we can do.....
Sorry Robben! But I still want to hear Revelation live! and Supernatural stuff, and Blue Moon stuff and Keep on Running Stuff and Tiger Walk and .........Blue Line stuff.............and
How about "Pass it On" from the Yellowjackets? OK OK now I'm dreaming. Now that is one of the greatest Robben moments of all time...that solo in Pass it On!!!!! _________________ www.hendersounds.com

My faves (in no particular order):
- Help The Poor (versions from both TTYD and Authorised Bootleg)
- Talk To Your Daughter (still love that song)
- Revelation (of course)
- Don't let me be Misunderstood (some great twists on an otherwise crappy song)
- Monmouth College Fight Song (!)
Hmmm... I seem to have a penchant for the older stuff. Having trouble getting the new album in Australia though at the moment. Grrr.

Actually Jon & Lefty, I like a lot of the new CD and it's hard to pick personal favorites but, if I must (you're gonna hate me for this), it's probably "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City"... a song that didn't make it to the completed disc even as a bonus track (to my disappointed suprise).
As for what IS there, I do find I am very partial to "Bonnie" and personally wish that Robben would include it in his performances.
In the overall Robben catalogue I really can't choose one specific favorite. I like a lot of his stuff for a lot of different reasons.
You know, a lot of people seem to wish that Robben would play more blues, or play more Jazz, or play more guitar, and so on. I, myself, have always admired and enjoyed that he can, and does, mix it up with a variety of styles and tastes. To me, that sets him miles above all the other "one trick ponies". _________________ B C-ing U!

I support that proposal big time - that song is one of my all time favourites! But I would not be surprised to see it on the next album perhaps. Just received and listened to Jing Chi - what a superb collection of incredible songs!!!! I am overwhelmed by the artistry Robben is displaying in his playing on this. I hope there's going to be a second release from these guys. |

Jing Chi Live is a great CD. It hasn't been out of the player since I got it. There are so many of Robben's tunes that I love. Revelation is a definite favorite, as is Talk to Your Daughter and I Ain't Got Nothing But the Blues. Start It Up in both versions is great. I may be in the minority, but I loved Robben's version of Badge, and I think he does a great job on For the Love of Money. But you know, I think my favorite Robben track is ...
the next one! I can't wait for the next CD.

Well,
My favorite track is "Hand in Hand With the Blues" from the latest CD. While I could site numerous places he plays more smokin' guitar, I think that the instrumental/vocal performances take this song to an extremely high level.
It's one of those songs that when you hear it the first time, you know that it will stand the test of time, and bring you back again and again. I love the intro, many players would feel the need to "busy it up", but Robben lets the song breathe from the start. This is something I think he does so well, and I wish that more players/songwriters would play more for the song, rather than use it as a chops showcase.
